We made the busiest travel day of the year a little bit better by turning a baggage claim into a game, complete with hosts, lots of cool prizes, and a giant dancing turkey.
The Baggage Claim Game received a Gold Clio, One Show Merit and national media coverage from USA Today, Business Insider, Mashable, PSFK, Digiday, Creativity, and Ad Age. Ad Age liked it so much they named it one of Marketing’s Most Memorable Experiential Moves alongside Nike Chalkbot, Gatorade Replay and Red Bull Stratos.
We executed a surprise overnight delivery to Hanover, NH, a small town with an unusually high amount of Zappos sales, by placing boxes full of Zappos goodies on every single doorstep – all 1,900 of them.
The stunt earned national coverage from Forbes, Adweek, Creativity, PR News and more. And the video reached more than one million views.
Over Easter Weekend, we organized an Easter Egg hunt in Portland, OR. Of course, this being Zappos, it wasn’t your usual Easter Egg hunt. An ostrich was involved, as were giant inflatable eggs. In all we hid 100 Easter eggs containing Zappos products throughout Portland and gave clues to their locations via Instagram and Twitter
The Happy Hunt resulted in over two million free media impressions and a lot of happy Oregonians. It was also an Effie Finalist, a One Show Interactive Finalist and won a silver Hatch award.
